TFYP 04 | Plan for a Planner

Posted on February 22, 2016 | 1 comment

The single most important aspect of your wedding day is the fact that you and the love of your life are promising your hearts and lives to one another for the rest of time. You should be able to enjoy and remember a day so important! Hiring a wedding planner will allow for exactly this.

Panache, one of our favorite event coordinators to work with, put it best on their blog last week:

#5 You Deserve to Enjoy Your Wedding
The most important thing to remember about your wedding? It’s just one day. If you’re busy making sure all the bridesmaids are dressed and your mother is keeping the flower girls from crying, you’ll miss the chance to live in the moment. With a wedding planner, you’ll be relaxing on your wedding day, not stressing out about the minor details that make a big difference.

We couldn’t have said it better.

To find the perfect wedding planner, make sure you do your research just as you would with any other vendor for your day. Since you will be working alongside of them in every aspect (or at least trusting them the day-of), you want to make sure the person you hire not only comes well recommended, but has a personality that puts you at ease. What you feel with them for an initial consultation can be a tell for how you will feel the day of your wedding, since they will be the glue that holds it together (Do you have a peace inside when chatting about your wedding with them? Is your consultation meeting well organized and flowing easily? These are great aspects that will help you know when you have found the right coordinator for you).

Not only does a coordinator keep you sane, but they keep all of your vendors sane, too. Throughout your wedding day, multiple questions will arise about information that was either not thought about ahead of time, or simply didn’t travel to the right person, and someone will need to answer. If there’s no coordinator, people will come to you. But you have multiple other tasks to get done (like getting pampered and drinking mimosas and making memories, hello!). A coordinator’s sole responsibility is to fill in the missing pieces and make sure things get done without anyone having an anxiety attack.

If you’re a do-it-yourself-er and find the planning process of your wedding exciting, you’re amazing – and you’re one of the few. Keep going, babe, and opt out of the prep with a planner; but don’t forget to hire them for day-of coordination. This one addition to your wedding will be one of your most valuable investments, and will allow the day of your dreams to not only come to life, but flow like a fairy tale from start to finish. You’ll be able to breathe, you’ll be able to laugh with your best friends and family, and you’ll be able to relax in front of the camera knowing everything is going according to plan.
